The NAVY LIST is compiled and published by order of the Lord Commissioners of the Admiralty for the convenience of the Service; but, as errors may occasionally occur, their Lordships must expressly reserve their right to determine the status of any Officer according to the actual circumstances of the case, independently of any Entry in the Navy List.

Purple colour: Officer confirmed at the Battle of Jutland

Light Purple colour: Service records cannot be found but according to Navy Lists it is likely that he was a the Battle of Jutland

Green colour: Officer appears on the appropriate Navy List

Jan 14 and others: The year and month of issue of the Navy List

Date: The date on the Navy List indicating when the officer joined the ship
